Spread the Love!

Simply put, when you choose Blair Nicole Photography to photograph your big day – you spread the love to others in need

…and that’s a beautiful thing!

I feel beyond blessed to be able to do what I do. And I know that I am part of my client’s big day for a reason…and I could not be more thankful!

So I am starting something new, (as of January 2013) for  every single wedding I book, I will give a percentage of my after tax income to one of my favorite charities. What does this mean for you? Well, you get to choose which organization to help support! There will be a little place on your contract to choose which of my favorites that the donation will go to! Pretty cool, right!? So not only do you support this small business (and put food on our family’s table), but you also help people in need!

The organizations that I feel passionate about:

Living Water International

Mission : Founded in 1990, Living Water International (LWI) exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water, and to experience “living water” – the gospel of Jesus Christ – which alone satisfies the deepest thirst. In all of LWI’s programs, we long for holistic transformation in the lives of those we serve, with a clear and well-developed focus on disciple making that infuses all of our work in water, sanitation and hygiene. We believe that God is continually at work in our world, reconciling and redeeming all things-both spiritual and physical. Our calling is to cooperate with his work by servicing some of the most impoverished communities in our world.

A few facts:

  • 1 child dies every 15 seconds because of a water-related disease
  • 1.8 million children die from diarrhea every year, thats more than armed conflict and terrorism combined!!
  • 2.6 billion people are without adequate sanitation
  • 884 million people lack access to safe water
  • No single factor transforms communities more than clean water

Visit their web site, or click here for a great PDF packed full of great info!

p.s. have you visited http://www.adventconspiracy.org/ ? If not , you NEED to (seriously!). It changed the way my family and I view Christmas, and is extremely moving. I’ve watched their promo video (on the site’s home page) too many times to count, and get emotional about it every.single.time.

The American Cancer Society

Mission: Founded in 1913 by 15 well-known doctors and business leaders in New York City, the American Cancer Society (ACS) is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service. The American Cancer Society consists of a National Home Office with 13 chartered Divisions throughout the United States and a presence in most communities. More than two million volunteers carry out the Society’s mission of eliminating cancer and improving quality of life for those individuals facing the disease.

I lost my father to Hodgkin Disease shortly before my 17th birthday. My life was turned upside down loosing my best friend , and I am still devastated to this day. He was an amazing , caring, super fun, loving man who was taken from us WAY too early. Point being, cancer sucks big time, and we need to put a stop to its devastation.

Find out more about Hodgkin Disease here, and see what the American Cancer Society is doing here.

Mission: Abolition and Restoration! We combat child sex slavery & exploitation with the unexpected and restore survivors with excellence.

A few facts:

  • Every year at least 1.2 million children are estimated to be trafficked around the world
  • 2 children per minute are trafficked for sexual exploitation/slavery.
  • It is estimated that at least 27 million people are currently enslaved around the world.
  • additionally, 45,000-50,000 people are estimated to be trafficked in the U.S. each year, and of this, between 15,000 and 17,500 are children, forced to participate in commercial sexual exploitation.

I personally could not imagine my child being anything other than happy, spirited, full of energy, and without a care in the world. Reality is, there are millions of children that face the opposite of my son’s happy life every day. Children that face slavery, and sexual exploitation. This is simply unacceptable.

Born This Way Foundation

Mission: Led by Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta, the Born This Way Foundation was founded in 2011 to foster a more accepting society, where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated. The Foundation is dedicated to creating a safe community that helps connect young people with the skills and opportunities they need to build a braver, kinder world. “We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, to be empowered and to make a difference in the world. Together, we will move towards acceptance, bravery and love.”

I am a very very firm believer in equality, and loving each other regardless of our differences. And that is EXACTLY what The Born This Way Foundation stands for. If you only know Lady Gaga for her “bold fashion choices” , I would wholeheartedly urge you to look a little more into who she is as a person and maybe watch some of the videos on the web site below. She is some one that I am proud to call a role model, and absolutely love what she is doing this for today’s youth through her empowering music, and the Born This Way Foundation.
